Internal Communications Forum Q1 2008 -- Strategy in Changing Times

debate

DISTRICT LINE -- We are going to do this more often.  Maybe once a quarter.  It's brilliant.

We had another IC Forum last week.  Friends and regular readers will know that this is something we started in 2006.  We get a bunch of our friends together, introduce them to each other and have a chat.

We supply the agenda, a speaker or two and a venue, and you do the rest.

This year we had a great speaker whose company had been all over your TV sets the week before.  He talked about how to stay focused on your goals when the sky falls in.

We talked about our change comms model.  For about five minutes.  And we led round tables about strategic communications.

One piece of feedback was that it was over too early.  Which we like to hear.  But the H&K bar provided a prime location for the conversation to continue.

So who was there?  I think maybe I should be more circumspect this year.  At one table alone we had three guys with almost 1M employees between them.  We had a top high street bank.  Two massive natural resource businesses.  A few government bodies, and a world beating strategy house (besides us!)

All very nice people and almost a completely different crew from last time.  So when we do it again, we'll give our guests more notice and see how we do.
