Second Life: still causes shock and gafaws

PORTMAN SQUARE -- I always both relish and fear the part of the Social Media Workshop where we look at Second Life.  In part because I am still not entirely comfortable on Second Life, but mostly because people have amazing reactions.

Most people are somewhere between incredulity and fear.  And that tends to come out as derision.

I hope that doesn't sound judgmental.  I would do the same thing.  In fact, I have done the same thing.

The way in which we present it is surely a factor too.  We build up from Facebook, to MySpace, through Wallop and CyWorld... And this week, I could tell when we had a few people saying they could see no use for Facebook, I suspected we might have a problem.

So, I'll post this blog during the course today, and update you on the over-night thinking.

That is sometimes quite interesting.

------

No one registered for Second Life.  There is concern about where personal and business personas meet.

P.S. We also recored a podcast.
